Ditch & Switch Nail Polish
Contrary to the popular belief, our bodies CAN absorb chemicals through the nail bed. While there is no completely toxin free nail polish options, due to the paint-like nature, there are much cleaner options available.
Due to an increased demand for safer products, the worst ingredient offenders have been phased out for the most part. This is when 3-free nail polish became a thing. While the nail polishes on the market today are better than ever before due to the phase out of those 3 ingredients above, there’s still a lot of room for improvement. BEWARE OF MARKETING TERMS! Don’t pay attention to the 5-free, 7-free, 10-free, or even 15-free. Easy to say you’re 15 free when 10 of those ingredients were never found in nail polish to start with! There is zero regulation for these claims, so it's important to always look directly on the ingredient label.
Be on the lookout for these toxic ingredients:
My top pick:
Huella A small business, tons of color choices, easy to apply, cute packaging and great performance. You can use code STEPHRYAN to save 10% off your purchase here. Huella still contains ingredients that I don’t love, like lake dyes, so I would use extra caution if you’re pregnant and on kids.
The cleanest option:
Piggy Paint The ingredients are about as pure as you can get, which means the wear isn’t great.
If you plan to order any of these, I would so appreciate it if you could shop directly through the links above. I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps support my mission while still being able to best serve you and my family.
