Ditch & Switch Kid's Multivitamin

Updated: Jun 3, 2022

Ideally, everyone should get all their minerals and nutrients from food, but sometimes you need to fill in that nutritional gap.

Conventional kid’s vitamins can contain:

  • High Fructose Corn Syrup: Made by fermenting corn starch several times in order to produce an unnatural mixture of glucose, fructose and other forms of sugar that are known to cause diabetes and obesity.

  • Folic Acid: Synthetic oxidized B vitamin used to replaced Folate. Our body can’t properly break down and absorb folic acid.

  • Maltodextrin: Used as a thickener, filler or preservative, many processed foods. Even though it comes from starch, it’s highly processed and can cause blood sugar spikes, suppressed probiotic growth, gastrointestinal symptoms, or a skin reaction.

  • Sugar: An immune system suppressant, totally counterproductive (and unnecessary) to have in vitamins.

  • Artificial Colors: Linked to behavioral disorders and ADHD.

  • Artificial Flavors: Derived from inedible sources, like petroleum. With both natural and artificial flavors, full ingredient disclosure isn’t required, so you have no idea what you’re actually eating. If you see natural flavors on a label, reach out to the company to see if they can give you more information.

I truly believe that you’re doing more harm than good by taking vitamins with these toxic ingredients. I cringe thinking about all the Flintstones vitamins I took while growing up.

It’s also important to take into account 3rd party testing. Surprisingly, many vitamins aren’t 3rd party tested for label accuracies.
