Ditch & Switch Baby Wipes

In 2004 a test revealed a staggering 287 chemicals and toxins were found in the cord blood of new born babies. This included pesticides, consumer product ingredients, and wastes from burning coal, gasoline, and garbage. To me, that is absolutely absurd and completely devastating.

The products we use on babies delicate skin can make a huge difference in the amount of toxins they are exposed too. The majority of baby wipes are filled with toxins that have no business being on anyone’s skin, let alone babies.

In most baby wipes you’ll find any number of the following toxins:

  • Phenoxyethanol: May harm your central nervous system and cause depression, kidney damage, skin irritation, headaches, dizziness, nausea and drowsiness.

  • ”Fragrance”: A loophole in the labeling industry that can hide over 3k various ingredients.

  • Polysorbate: Ethoxylated, likely to have carcinogenic 1,4 dioxane residues.

  • PEGs: Independent studies show that most polyethylene glycol compounds remain contaminated with the known carcinogen, 1,4 Dioxane.

  • Grapefruit Seed Extract: Highly contaminated with triclosan, methylparaben, and benzethonium chloride.

  • Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate: An ammonium compound that can be irritating to skin.

  • Tocopheryl Acetate: Synthetic Vitamin E, can also be contaminated with hydroquinone.

  • Benzethonium Chloride: May contribute to Asthma, hay fever, skin rashes, neurotoxicity, eye irritation, and it may compromise your immune system.

  • EDTA: Increases absorption (only bad when paired with toxic ingredients)

All these toxins being used on such sensitive and delicate areas is maddening, but fear not, there are safe options!
